Overseeding is a necessary process that helps keep the fairways green year round. Overseeding is the process of planting new grass seed directly over existing turf. In the fall and winter months, the golf course is overseeded with perennial ryegrass, which is more favorable to the cooler weather that occurs during these months. In the warmer months, the golf course has Bermuda grass, which tolerates the heat better. Additionally, Gault Field will be overseeded early this year. The fields will be closed Oct. 26 through Dec. 13 while the grass is overseeded with the perennial ryegrass. The baseball fields will reopen on Dec. 14. The city of Omaha is taking over ownership of a west Omaha golf course and the residents who live along the fairways couldnt be happier.
